Experience that goes
beyond the clinical.

As founder of Loughlin’s Optics, I help practices embrace diversity and inclusion, shaping better care for patients and more inclusive workplaces for staff. Cultural inclusion is part of that work: making space for different backgrounds, beliefs and communication needs.

I am AuDHD. My family’s lived experience spans autism, deafness, blindness, bipolar disorder, amputation and complex medical needs. These experiences shape the way I work — with empathy, honesty and practical understanding.

My story

As founder of Loughlin’s Optics – Advocacy & Training Specialist, I help optical practices embrace diversity, cultural inclusion and accessibility through lived experience, shaping better care for patients and more inclusive workplaces for staff. I’m dedicated to transforming the way our field approaches diversity and inclusion.

Through lived experience, I bring insight, empathy and practical strategies to help practices and professionals create more accessible, inclusive and supportive environments for both patients and colleagues. Cultural inclusion is part of this work: recognising different backgrounds, beliefs and communication needs so people feel respected, understood and welcome.

With over 25 years in optics, I’ve built my career around helping people see more clearly and access the eye care they deserve.

My current role is Inclusion and Patient Experience Director. I previously worked as a Senior Clinical and Dispensing Technician at Specsavers and as a Manager and Trainer for Boots, helping open several branches from scratch. I also have experience in independent practices with specialist cases.

I continue to advocate wherever I can for vulnerable communities, helping raise awareness of barriers to eye care and championing more accessible, compassionate support.

My understanding of accessibility and inclusion is deeply personal. I am AuDHD, and my family represents a wide spectrum of lived experience — including autism, deafness, blindness, bipolar disorder, amputation, and complex medical needs. This background gives me unique insight into the barriers people face and drives my commitment to making healthcare truly person-centred and compassionate.

Outside of optics, I’ve dedicated over a decade to the Scouting movement, supporting young people to grow and thrive. I currently serve on the county and district Inclusion and Diversity Support Team and as District Chair within Scouts.

I’m also preparing to return study Optometry, with a goal to complete my Master’s by 2030.

At the heart of all I do is a belief in people, community, and ensuring everyone feels seen, valued, and understood.

The values behind the work

People. Perspective. Possibility.

Inclusion in action

From staff training to patient pathways, I transform awareness into access where true inclusion is visible and tangible.

Human first

Empathy-led care means seeing the individual before the process. Every decision prioritises people.

Clarity & compassion

Inclusion should be practical, clear and kind. Change becomes real when it feels achievable and human.

Lived experience leads

My insights are rooted in real experiences with neurodivergence, disability and care.

Belonging through vision

Clinical spaces should help everyone feel safe to be seen, valued and understood.

A clearer way forward

Let’s make inclusion everyday.
